Overview

Having lived in the same house my whole life, I have seen the outside world through red cottage-pane windows. I paint aspects of the house – architectural form, line, edge – minimalized and abstracted. I use the 3D effect of oil paint on carved-out plywood, allowing areas of natural grain of the wood to show through.

This particular artwork demanded attention to detail, a series of highly orchestrated forms, colours and textures. This painting took over three years to complete and has deep emotional significance due to the experience I have lived through during this time. I focused on the relationship of happenings, watching what my mark making is creating.
